In this traditional therapy rooted in the Polynesian Islands and now widely practiced in Hawaii, I use long, flowing, dance-like strokes that follow the full length of your body in rhythmic movements mimicking ocean waves. I work on multiple areas of your body simultaneously with forearms, generous amounts of Monoi oil, gentle stretching and joint rotations. Just as the tide rolls in and out, my magic hands gently push in and then roll out to remove tension, clear your mind, and heal the soul. My own blend of this Polynesian massage is a fusion of Ma-uri and Lomi Lomi.

 

To create the exotic, relaxing aura of Polynesia, and to complete the impression that you are indeed on a Polynesian Island, I perform my LomiLomi - Taurumi Therapy in our Island Paradise room, dressed in Polynesian resort style attire and playing Polynesian/Hawaiian sounds.

For this massage I use Monoi Oil, known as the Sacred Miracle Oil of the Polynesians that is said to be the secret behind the beauty, the soft glowing skin, and the shiny hair of the Tahitian women, lasting into old age, a claim that has lately been substantiated by Western clinical research. Because this style of massage works the entire body as a single unit, your body is less covered than during a Swedish or Deep Tissue massage.

Larger areas of your body may remain undraped or only partially covered with a light Hawaiian sheet, and a small towel covering your genital area and/or a one-time use thong that I provide for male and female clients. Female clients can also have their breasts covered with a towel if they prefer.

This type of draping requires a permission form signed by you and the therapist that can be withdrawn at any time.

 

The free-flowing strokes aide in relaxing muscles, improving circulation and immune response, increasing range of motion and flexibility, improved posture, and pain relief. In addition, my LomiLomi - Taurumi therapy takes you to a state of relaxation and stillness that frees your mind from blockage and stabilizes the mind to face new possibilities. Aside from the obvious relaxation experienced during a massage, LomiLomi clients are also gifted with a release from anxiety, fear, and other negative emotions caused by energetic blockages.

 

My LomiLomi - Taurumi session lasts 90 minutes as this style encourages a deeper relaxed state and hones in on methodical movements.
